This summer, and into the fall, I worked on a master bathroom renovation that included many wonderful materials and details. Thanks to careful planning and attention to detail, a simple and utilitarian bathroom was transformed into an elegant and serene oasis.
Cappuccino toned mosaic tile set the stage, and beige “marfil” tile for the main floor and shower provided the look of polished travertine in durable porcelain. Shivakashi granite played up the subtle beige palette and added peach, rose and gray accents. Finding the right slab of Shivakashi granite was a bit of a challenge, but the client and I enjoyed the hunt and found a piece that fit the bill. The Shivakashi proved to be a beautiful choice for the vanity top and for wall caps and shelving for the glass shower enclosure.
We opted for off-white plumbing fixtures such as a wonderful soaking tub from Maax, and a beautiful vessel sink from Toto that sat atop a traditional painted vanity from WoodPro. The tub and vessel sinks added a lovely sculptural quality to the room.
Polished nickel faucets added a nice amount of heft, and Benjamin Moore “Antique White” proved to be the perfect wall color to finish the project.
