Several residential interior design projects I’m working on include whole house paint color schemes. Clients are gravitating towards gray colors, which I put together in combinations from light to dark that flow well throughout the home. Gray then also comes into play for tile and granite selections to complement the background colors.
Some beautiful gray color schemes include starting with a light color such as Benjamin Moore Calm #2111-70 for entry foyer, hallways and stairway, and then gradually turning up the color by adding Barren Plain or Stone Harbor for kitchen or living areas, and then Taos Taupe or even Mustang for darker drama in dining rooms or powder rooms.
A similar effect can be achieved with Benjamin Moore Lacey Pearl #2108-70, and the other colors in the 2108 series such as Abalone, Silver Fox and Stardust.
Gray colors provide a neutral, calm and beautiful background and allow lots of flexibility for color choices when it comes to furniture, fabrics and accessories.
