Several recent projects have featured custom window treatments, especially drapery panels, valances and shades or blinds. I work with a couple of very talented drapery workrooms to put together custom window treatments for clients. First, I meet with the clients to discuss their needs and wishes (for example, do they need privacy and light control, and/or are they looking for decorative drapery panels or valances, etc?) I’ll then shop for fabrics, put together ideas for styles and products, firm up the selections with the client, and then meet the fabricator on site so they can measure windows and go over all the info needed for drapery or valance specifics (styles, pleat details, hem details, fullness, lining), types of shades or blinds, hardware, and fabrication. Lots of key information and expertise goes into creating beautiful and useful window treatments! The process usually takes about 6 to 8 weeks from start to finish, and the results are wonderful.
