Here’s some inspiration for warm summer months and for coastal settings. Fantasy Green quartzite (hard marble) is one of my favorite materials for counter tops. It’s perfect for kitchen or bath with a variety of cabinet finishes (white, gray, pewter), and works with a variety of paint finishes (soft silvery green, light to dark gray, cocoa brown). I get lost in the beautiful waves and swirls of soft gray/green, off white, silver and accents of black. Also known as Green Fantasy, it reminds me of clouds or surf crashing on a beach. I just selected it for a kitchen renovation project on Cape Cod, teamed with creamy white painted cabinets, a grey and white tile backsplash, and soft gray tile flooring. I mentioned summer, but the materials and finishes will look equally beautiful and serene when the snow flies!
Quartzite is a hard marble with low risk of etching or staining, but it’s always prudent to seal it and reseal every year or so as needed. I’ve specified it successfully several times for kitchen and bath projects. Fantasy Brown is a close cousin of Fantasy Green and is another favorite that I’ve used with great results. I recently specified Fantasy Brown for a wonderful rec room/bar and kitchen project on Captiva Island on the gulf coast of Florida, with weathered, light brown rubbed/stained cabinets, a weathered wide plank, luxury vinyl floor and weathered wood beams and columns. The results were beautiful but very casual. The look is soft, stylish and versatile.
