I’m looking ahead to a productive and busy 2021. The past several months were unusual and challenging, of course, but projects moved along well, and I was able to work with clients and builders in person or remotely. Clients, contractors and I worked together to complete projects that had begun in 2019/2020, and we achieved wonderful results.
Completed projects included a home office/den furnishings project in Orleans MA, consulting on interior and exterior specs for several new construction residential projects in Lexington, Winchester and Arlington MA, a condo renovation project on Sanibel Island, FL, consulting for clients in Lexington MA to add custom window treatments to a beautiful home that I’d previously worked on, and consulting with a client in Arlington MA to specify cabinets, counter tops, tile, flooring, light fixtures and paint colors throughout a newly constructed home.
A great example of working things out remotely was the condo renovation project on Sanibel Island in Florida, where I have an office so that I can work with clients on Sanibel and Captiva. The clients and I began the project in 2019 by meeting in person while we were all on Sanibel, with plans to move things along in winter & spring of 2020. Little did we know that COVID-19 would have a huge impact on typical progress. The clients had returned to their primary residence in MA and were not able to easily return to Sanibel, but decided to move ahead with the project so it would be complete by their original target date. Fortunately, I was able to obtain samples and detailed photos for all items needed for the two bathrooms they were renovating and for new paint colors and carpets. There was a big “trust factor,” but the clients were able to remotely make selections for cabinets, tile, counter tops, faucets and accessories, and paint colors and carpeting based on my recommendations. I had also returned to MA in late February, and the local contractor for the project was great with communication, with sending progress photos and with making sure everything ran smoothly. The project was a big success and the clients’ condo looks great!
I’m excited about the projects I’m now working on in 2021, such as a fun den/library furnishings project with clients in Chatham MA, consulting on new home construction specs and details with a builder in Lexington MA, a great new kitchen and first floor renovation project in Littleton MA, a three season room renovation and kitchen & bath renovation in Orleans MA, and a bathroom renovation in Concord MA that will totally transform a dated 70’s era bathroom into a stylish and contemporary gem of a bathroom. Looking good!
Working with so many great people added a bright note to 2020 and inspires me for 2021. Thanks to all!
