Working with interior design clients often includes reupholstering furniture. This is a smart option if you like some of your current furniture and it just needs an update. It allows true customization and control because I’m able to provide a huge range of fabric options and I’m able to work with my local upholsterers to cover important details such as the type of cushions or fill and the comfort range (soft, medium or firm), skirting types (if a sofa or chair has a skirt, there are different options to consider), arm details, trim details and pillow details.
Here’s a look at a recent reupholstery project. The original sectional featured navy blue canvas fabric that had gotten loose and wrinkly. The dark blue fabric gathered lint very easily and looked worn and fuzzy. The new chenille fabric transformed the sectional to make it both more sophisticated and softer & more comfortable. I selected textured fabrics for pillows that complement the sofa and that coordinate with the new draperies that I had fabricated for the project. It was a great transformation.
