Sea Glass Inspired Design Scheme

Sea Glass Inspired Design Scheme

To continue the thread of my last blog about sea glass, here’s a design scheme I’m working on for a home renovation and design project in Florida. The fabrics we’ve selected for an open and airy family room/dining area will result in a cool and casual look that will bring the nearby beach indoors. The combination of a lighthearted floral pattern, soft stripes and textures, and an ikat pattern will add up to a lovely and relaxing living area.

The paint colors we’ve selected for the dining area, bedrooms and bathrooms so far include Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue, Yarmouth Blue and Buxton Blue. They all look great with white trim and with white or grey tile. Tile for bathrooms will feature soft white or grey palettes, with glass tile accents used in the showers and as backsplashes at the vanities. In the main living area, we’ve opted to paint the walls a sandy beige, Benjamin Moore’s Putman Ivory, and we’ll use a neutral sisal area rug over a very light beige 24″ x 24″ tile.

The kitchen will feature an off-white finish for most of the cabinets, and a dove grey finish for the island. The countertop will be Azul Platino granite, which is a soft, neutral grey granite that features wonderful flecks of sea glass toned blues and greens. The kitchen backsplash will feature a mosaic tile that is made up of tumbled limestone with light green and dark blue glass.

The color scheme and fabric scheme play up the sea glass inspiration!
