Sunny, Mellow Yellow

Sunny, Mellow Yellow

Spring time turns my thoughts to warm, sunny days and to the color yellow! Yellow is a mood lifter, can create mellow spaces or intense, bold spaces, and although it’s associated with Spring and Summer, can be a wonderful color to live in year round. Even on a grey, cold, wintry day, yellow can bring in warmth and optimism. Yellow walls change subtly throughout the day due to shifting light levels and light quality, creating an interesting interior palette.

I love using all sorts of yellows, and over the years, I’ve come to appreciate and understand the many variations of the color. Benjamin Moore yellows are some of my favorites. From creamy, parchment tones (Windham Cream and Cotton Tail) to pale golds (Weston Flax and Hawthorne Yellow) to lemony yellows (Moonlight and Provence Crème ), the wide range of colors in the yellow family appeals to many clients, whether for kitchens, bathrooms, family rooms or playrooms. Although considered a cheery, upbeat color, yellow can be used in the most sophisticated of settings.

Yellow looks great with painted white trim, with natural toned or dark stained trim, with terra cotta tile flooring, and with neutral elements such as Jaspe (salt and pepper) granite as shown in photo. Yellow provides a natural uplift and a great looking addition to many interiors.
